MANILA, Philippines — The policeman who was wounded in a gunfight with robbers in Sta. Cruz, Manila last week died in a hospital yesterday afternoon.

Cpl. Edgil Bombase, assigned with the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 3, died at past 3 p.m. at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center where he had been confined since Wednesday.

MPD Station 3 commander Lt. Col. Reynaldo Magdaluyo said Bombase’s left kidney had to be removed while his liver and diaphragm were badly damaged.
