Traffic enforcer dragged by SUV driver gets promotion

Adrian Lim, a member of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, was promoted as a regular employee by Mayor Isko Moreno.

MANILA, Philippines — A 21-year-old traffic enforcer who was injured after being dragged by the driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) through the streets of Manila was promoted yesterday.

Adrian Lim, a member of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, was promoted as a regular employee by Mayor Isko Moreno.

Moreno said Lim risked his life when he pulled over Ricardo Dizon Jr. for a traffic violation on Saturday.

Dizon sped off as Lim was seen on video hanging on the side of the SUV, reportedly owned by Dizon’s employer.

Lim said Dizon also punched him.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspended the driver’s license of Dizon for three months.

The LTO also issued a show-cause order that will compel Dizon to explain why his license should not be revoked.

The incident along Gelinos street in Sta. Cruz, Manila was captured on closed-circuit television footage, which has gone viral on Facebook.

The LTO set the hearing on Dizon’s case on Thursday.
