Former head of urban poor body shot dead

MANILA, Philippines — A former official of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor was gunned down in an ambush perpetrated by unidentified assailants in Quezon City yesterday. 

Abdulrashid Ladayo, 53, died of gunshot wounds while being treated at the Metro North Hospital.

According to a police report, Ladayo had just gotten off his Mitsubishi Montero in front of his house along Engineer street in Barangay Sangandaan at around 3:25 p.m. when he was waylaid.

Probers said one of the suspects fired at the victim several times.

Witnesses told police that the gunman fled on a motorcycle with his two cohorts, who served as lookouts.
