MANILA, Philippines — Although it will abide by the order, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said it would ask a Quezon City court to reconsider its decision suspending the implementation of the provincial bus ban on EDSA.

“We will ask the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to help us file our appeal,” the LTFRB said.

The OSG was given until Aug. 14 to file a consolidated answer in behalf of the public defendants, the LTFRB and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The order was signed on July 31 by Judge Caridad Walse-Lutero of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 23.

Lutero said she found merit in the petitions filed by different transport groups and bus companies.

Meanwhile, MMDA traffic chief Bong Nebrija said the injunction would waste government resources as the agency is ready to conduct a dry run on the ban this week.  – With Marc Jason Cayabyab
