MANILA, Philippines — San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora has ordered the suspension of pay parking along streets in the city in compliance with President Duterte’s directive to rid public roads of obstructions.
In an executive order Zamora signed yesterday, pay parking will be prohibited on all streets and declared as no-parking zones. The order will be effective on Aug. 5.
“This is in response to the call of President Duterte to reclaim all public roads in order to ease the traffic situation in Metro Manila,” he said in a statement.
Included in his order are Annapolis, Eisenhower, Connecticut, Missouri, Xavier, Grant, Washington, Madison and Pinaglabanan streets, Club Filipino Avenue and Santolan Road.
All other streets where parking fees are collected by the city government or the barangay are also included in the order.
Zamora ordered city’s Traffic Management and Parking Office, Task Force Disiplina, traffic police and barangay officials to issue traffic citation tickets to erring motorists.
He also warned that vehicles that are parked along the streets will be towed.
