MANILA, Philippines — The chief of police of Koronadal City has been relieved from his post after a video showing him drinking and gambling with his men at the police station went viral.

Brig. Gen. Eliseo Rasco, Soccksargen police chief, relieved Lt. Col. Benjiel Kirby Bajo from his post on Thursday.

An investigation to identify the other police officers in the video is ongoing.

Rasco said the incident discredited the entire police force even as he reminded police officers of his resolve to implement an internal cleansing program.

Philippine National Police chief General Oscar Albayalde issued an order banning PNP personnel from drinking in public places. He said police officers should always adhere to the standards of morality and decency based on the PNP’s ethical doctrine.

Albayalde said erring police officers face administrative charges, dismissal, demotion or suspension from service. – John Unson
