The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Three Muslim religious leaders detained in Tuguegarao, Cagayan for allegedly violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act have been freed through the assistance of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF).

Habin Ditongcopun, Noraldin Lucman and Musanif Madaya, who were arrested in Enrile town on March 1, were released on March 20.

Provincial prosecutor Ronnel Nicolas signed the release order, saying there was no probable cause to detain the imams.

A Facebook post of the Muslim clerics on their illegal arrest reached the office of NCMF Secretary Saidamen Pangarungan, who offered legal assistance.

Pangarungan flew to Tuguegarao upon receiving news on the release of the Muslim clerics.
