Worker falls in elevator shaft in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines — A construction worker died after he fell into an elevator shaft of a building in Quezon City on Monday.
Edwin Ternal, 45, died at the Quezon City General Hospital from severe injuries in the head and body.
The accident happened at the construction site of the North Park Inn Hotel in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa at around 8 a.m.
A report from the Quezon City police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) said the victim fell when he entered the elevator shaft from the seventh floor.
Police are investigating if there was a malfunction as the elevator was on the ground floor.
A co-worker told probers they heard a loud thud. When they forcibly opened the elevator shaft, they found the victim on the lift’s ceiling.
