MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement “stop-and-go” and traffic rerouting schemes today for an interfaith solidarity walk by Christian and Muslim groups at the Quezon Memorial Circle.
More than 4,000 Muslims and Christians will join the walk, said Bong Nebrija, EDSA traffic czar of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
The Muslim groups will gather at Commonwealth Avenue and the Christian groups on East Avenue before meeting at the Quezon Memorial Circle, he said.
A stop-and-go scheme will be implemented starting at 7 a.m. between Masaya street and Commonwealth Avenue as Muslim groups will cross Elliptical Road from their assembly area at Philcoa.
For the traffic rerouting, all motorists from Elliptical Road going to Kalayaan Road, UP and Commonwealth Avenue shall turn right on East Avenue, left on Matalino street, left on Kalayaan Avenue and right to Elliptical Road to their destinations.
Motorists from EDSA via East Avenue shall turn right on Matalino street, left on Kalayaan Avenue and right on Elliptical Road to their destinations.
