ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A teenage boy died while his two companions were hurt after they were struck by lightning on Saturday in Barangay Salaan.
Rovin Gaspar, 14, died while Jomari dela Cruz, 14, and Penic Quijano, 7, were wounded when lightning struck them as they played under the rain at noon, said Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, spokesperson for the police regional office.
The victims were brought to a hospital but the attending physician declared Gaspar dead on arrival while Dela Cruz and Quijano were confined at the hospital.
