Slain anti-drug cop chief gets posthumous award

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has posthumously conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu, Rank of Kalasag on Chief Senior Inspector Michael Angelo Tubaña, police chief of Mallig, Isabela, who was killed in an anti-drug operation last Sunday. 

The President visited Tubaña’s wake on Thursday.

The award is conferred on individuals who died due to their participation in an activity in line with a campaign or advocacy of the President.

 Tubaña, 31, was shot by drug suspects in a raid in Barangay Centro 1. The suspects, including a minor, were arrested on Monday.
