Cop wounded, 22 nabbed in drug stings

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer was wounded while six suspects were arrested in a drug sting in Rizal yesterday.

Police Officer 2 Allan Sinam was hit in the leg by an unidentified man in Barangay San Andres, Cainta.

“The operatives did not manage to retaliate because there are houses nearby... The suspect escaped,” Chief Superintedent Guillermo Eleazar, Calabarzon police director, said.

Around eight grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P40,000, drug paraphernalia and P500 in marked money were reportedly recovered from the suspects.

Sixteen other suspects were arrested in Malolos, San Jose del Monte, San Rafael, Baliwag, Bustos and Hagonoy on Friday. They yielded 36 sachets of shabu, police said.

Robert Serrano, a suspected member of a drug ring operating in Benguet, was arrested after selling P3,300 worth of shabu to an undercover agent along Asin road in Baguio City also on Friday.
