CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — The police chief of Biñan City and two of his men were relieved from their posts yesterday for allegedly failing to preserve a crime scene.
Superintendent Reydante Ariza, Senior Police Officer 1 Michael Subieto and PO1 Eduardo Nartea Jr. were ordered to submit themselves to the Provincial Investigation Unit for evaluation, Senior Superintendent Cecilio Ison, Laguna police director, said.
Ariza was removed from his post under the doctrine of command responsibility.
Superintendent Gauvin Unos replaced Ariza.
Fidel Sanchez and his wife Liza sought the assistance of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa, saying Subeto and Nartea cleaned up the bloodstains at an apartment in Barangay Platero where the body of their daughter Kimberly, 20, was found.
The couple said no Scene of Crime Operatives arrived to examine the body of their daughter.
Kimberly, a cashier of a boutique at a mall, had been missing for two days before her body, which bore multiple stab wounds, was found.
