MANILA, Philippines - A 48-year-old painter reportedly hanged himself in Quezon City over the weekend.
Joel Nogot was found hanging by his wife at their house in Barangay Doña Imelda at around 7 a.m. on Sunday. A belt was tied around his neck, police said.
Nogot was rushed to the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center but was pronounced dead after a few hours.
Police said Nogot slept in the room with his two sons the night before he committed suicide.
Nogot reportedly became depressed due to financial problems.
Police said his mobile phone contained an unsent message, which read “paalam sa inyo.”
Nogot bore no external injuries except for a ligature mark on his neck, probers said.
