DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Stakeholders in the power industry will meet here today to discuss Mindanao’s power problems.
To be led by the Mindanao Power Monitoring Committee, among those to be discussed are right-of-way issues with landowners who are seeking compensation for transmission lines put up in their properties and the security of power transmission towers amid recent bombings.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said at least 18 transmission towers have been bombed since November. At least five power transmission towers have yet to be restored because landowners refuse entry to linemen sent to repair the toppled lines.
Representatives of the Mindanao Development Authority, Department of Energy, Energy Regulatory Commission, National Electrification Administration, National Power Corp., Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management, the Association of Mindanao Rural Electric Cooperatives, National Transmission Corp. Mindanao Electric Power Alliance and NGCP are expected to attend the meeting.
