MMDA warns of heavy weekend traffic

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday warned of heavy traffic in Pasig and Quezon City due to scheduled road reblocking and repairs in the areas.

MMDA said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct road repairs this weekend beginning 10 p.m. on Friday (January 8) until 5 a.m. Monday (January 11).

MMDA Chair Emerson Carlos said the road works will be conducted in the following areas:

Southbound

1. Along EDSA, between Mother Ignacia street and Eugenio Lopez, first lane from sidewalk

Northbound

1. Along C5 Road between Shell Gas station to SM Warehouse, outermost lane

2. Along EDSA fronting DPWH-QCSED, 2nd lane from sidewalk

Carlos said DPWH-National Capital Region Director Melvin Navarro has recommended the reblocking and repair of the areas for maintenance purposes. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes.

All affected roads will be fully passable by 5 a.m. on Monday, MMDA said.
