Damage due to Nona breaches P6 B

MANILA, Philippines - Damage to agriculture and infrastructure due to Typhoon Nona has breached P6 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported yesterday. 

The Mimaropa (Mindoro-Marinduque-Romblon-Palawan) region sustained P2.28 billion in damage. Damage to infrastructure was placed at P588.53 million and P1.69 billion to agriculture.

Damage to communication, water facilities and power lines totaled P292.98 million and P3.16 million to private property. 

The NDRRMC said damage to infrastructure and agriculture in Eastern Visayas was placed at P1.75 billion.

Central Luzon reported P1.19 billion in damage; Bicol region, P918.79; Cagayan Valley, P195.77 million; and Calabarzon (Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon), P30.47 million.

The death toll due to Nona rose to 42. Four persons remained missing as of yesterday.

Meanwhile, a price freeze was imposed in parts of Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Pampanga, which were placed under a state of calamity. – Alexis Romero, Ding Cervantes
