Pangasinan city drug cases down by 60%
URDANETA CITY, Philippines – The city police’s intensified campaign against drugs has resulted in the decrease of the cases by at least 60 percent, authorities said over the weekend.
This city was previously tagged by anti-narcotics agencies as one of the transshipment points of illegal drugs in the province.
Superintendent Jeff Fanged, city police chief, said their campaign has prompted illegal drug traffickers to transfer their illegal activities to other areas.
Fanged however, said five villages remain under tight watch for illegal drugs.
On Dec. 2, members of the city police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested five suspected drug traffickers in Barangay Pinmaludpod and seized from them 14 plastic sachets said to contain shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Nabbed were Rey Talvo, Armando Fernandez, Michael Servas, Rodolfo Valdez Jr. and Jannelle Montero.
Fanged said village officials have become more active and aggressive in clearing their areas of the anti-drug problem.
