Edita Burgos slams soldiers in Bulacan farm

Ramon Efren Lazaro - The Philippine Star

MALOLOS, Philippines  – Edita Burgos, the mother of missing activist Jonas Burgos, has asked the military to apologize and explain why soldiers came to her family’s farm in Barangay Tartaro in San Miguel, Bulacan on Wednesday night.

Burgos told The STAR she was out of town when her son Sonny saw at least 15 soldiers in front of their house at 7:30 p.m.

When Sonny confronted the soldiers, one of them said they were just securing the area, but did not give any explanation.

Edita said the soldiers left the farm when Sonny asked them to leave, but stayed within its perimeter.

She said the soldiers should be educated about respecting the privacy of people.

Edita had blamed the military for the disappearance of Jonas in 2007.
