Eastern Visayas farmers get P72-M equipment

MANILA, Philippines – At least P72 million worth of farm equipment have been distributed to 100 agrarian reform beneficiary organizations in Eastern Visayas, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) reported over the weekend.

The equipment were recommended by the state universities and colleges tapped by the agency to assess the needs of the beneficiaries, according to DAR Undersecretary for Support Services Rosalina Bistoyong.

The equipment include 86 hand tractors, 58 rice threshers, 17 tillers, 12 rice reapers and 11 tractors.

Bistoyong said under the reform community connectivity and economic support services project, DAR helps farmer-beneficiaries to become entrepreneurs.

“With the help of the facilities and training, the government expects the farmers to attain better living conditions,” Bistoyong said.
