CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – Three suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with police officers in Tarlac City, Tarlac on Saturday.
The names of the fatalities were not immediately available, according to Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Superintendent Rudy Lacadin.
Reports said the three stole a tricycle in Tarlac City, prompting the police to set up a checkpoint in Barangay Tibag.
The men reportedly shot at the police officers who pulled them over in Sitio Pag-asa, triggering a firefight.
Police recovered three .38 caliber revolvers and the stolen tricycle from the suspects.
Lacadin said the tricycle was turned over to its owner, Sonny Medrano of Barangay Sierra, Lapaz, Tarlac.
