P5-M infra projects to benefit Misamis farmers

MANILA, Philippines – Five infrastructure projects worth P5 million have recently been turned over to farmers in Misamis Occidental, officials said yesterday.

Alibasa Andig, provincial agrarian reform program officer, said the projects would improve the livelihood of farmer-beneficiaries in seven villages in the municipality of Calamba.

Andig said the projects included four concrete farm-to-market roads that will benefit at least 2,000 farmers and villagers, and a daycare center.

Vice Gov. Aurora Virginia Almonte hailed the Department of Agarian Reform (DAR) and the municipal government of Calamba led by Mayor Ezel Villanueva for the projects.

Villanueva thanked DAR for funding the projects.

DAR assistant regional director Teresita Depeñoso said the road-concreting projects were part of the support services programs implemented in agrarian reform communities.
