Power outage hits 5 northern provinces

MANILA, Philippines – The National Risk Reduction Management and Council (NDRRMC) on Monday reported five provinces that remained without electricity due to Typhoon Lando.

According to NDRRMC, province-wide power outages still remain in Aurora, Apayao, Kalinga, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino

NDRRMC also reported four cities and 71 municipalities with power interruptions and outage in Regions 1, 2, 3, 4-A, 4-B and Cordillera Administrative Region.

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) also reported unscheduled power interruption in some areas in Metro Manila due to a sudden plant outage at 7 a.m. The power supply was affected for at least 10 to 15 minutes.

Aside from the power interruption at 7 a.m., power supply was also shut down in some areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces such as Bulacan and Cavite.

Meralco vowed to exert effort in restoring the power supply by Monday afternoon.

Work in all government offices in Regions 1, 2, 3 and CAR were suspended on Monday. Frontline services providers and response agencies are exempted from this suspension.
