MANILA, Philippines - A 10-year-old girl, who has been missing since Wednesday last week, was found dead near a river in Tanay, Rizal on Monday.
The decomposing body of Princess Dorise Casandra Valencia, a Grade 4 pupil of the Bukal Elementary School, was found by her relatives at the Hocbee Farm in Barangay Plaza Aldea at around noon.
Witnesses said the girl was naked, her neck broken and her face covered with mud.
The municipal government of Tanay offered a P50,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of Valencia’s killers.
Rizal police director Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba ordered a deeper probe of the incident.
Reports said the girl asked her mother to allow her to take a bath in the nearby river.
The mother did not allow it, but when she fell asleep, the victim went to the river, where she was last seen swimming.
Valencia failed to return home that day, prompting her parents and relatives to look for her.
