Village councilor, drug pusher fall in Tacloban ops

Shabu, a white crystalline subtance, is still considered as the most abused illegal drug in the country.

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities nabbed a barangay official and a suspected drug pusher in a raid in Tacloban City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday.

In a belated report, PDEA identified the suspects as Diosdado Botoya, 51, a kagawad of Barangay 50, Tacloban City; and Cienven Quintana, 29, of Phase 4, New York Street, Barangay 109, V&G Subdivision, Tacloban City.

Quintana,  No. 1 drug personality in Tacloban City, and Botoya are members of KE Drug Group operating in Tacloban City and nearby municipalities in the province of Leyte, PDEA said.

Last August 24, around 11:55 a.m., operatives of PDEA Regional Office 8 (PDEA RO8) and local police  served the search warrant against Botoya and Quintana in Botoya's residence.

Operatives confiscated from the two men were two plastic sachets of suspected shabu.

The suspects are now detained at the Tacloban City police, facing illegal drug raps.
