SUBIC, Zambales, Philippines – Two children died while another was reported missing in a flashflood that swept their house located along the riverbank here at dawn Monday.
The bodies of siblings Rian Layn Quintero, 2, and Regienyr, 9 months old, were recovered hours after they were carried away by floodwaters in Barangay Manganvaca.
Authorities were still searching for the victims’ elder brother R-Gienh, according to Subic town Mayor Jay Khonghun.
The victims’ father Reggie Quintero; his wife Jocelyn, 32; and children Crisha Layn, 7, and Regielyn, 3, were taken to the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital in Olongapo City for treatment of injuries.
Reports said that heavy downpour caused the river to swell at around 2 a.m. and swept the family’s house.
The Quinteros were asleep when floodwaters carried their house away.
The bodies of the victims were recovered in nearby Barangay Baraca-Camachile.
