Batanes town gets P2-M infra projects

MANILA, Philippines - More than P2 million worth of infrastructure projects have been turned over to the municipal government of Basco in Batanes to help improve the local economy and the lives of farmer-beneficiaries, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) reported over the weekend.

DAR regional director Marjorie Ayson said the projects also aim to promote public health and proper hygiene.

Ayson said the projects include an irrigation system in Barangay Tuva and a concrete shed with a restroom for farmers in Barangay Vayang.

An agreement signed by Ayson and Basco Mayor Demetrius Paul Narag provided that DAR would release funds, monitor and inspect the projects and turn these over to the beneficiaries, while the local government would maintain it.
