DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Davao Light and Power Co. has announced an improvement in the power supply in its franchise area.
Davao Light said it would no longer schedule power interruptions after the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) increased its allocation from 196 megawatts on Tuesday to 234 MW on Thursday.
The NGCP cited the completion of preventive maintenance of a unit of Steag’s coal-fired power plant five days ahead of schedule for the improvement in the power situation. The unit, which was placed on preventive maintenance on July 18, was synchronized to the Mindanao grid on Tuesday.
Davao Light has not scheduled any power interruption since Aug. 1 despite the critical supply in the region.
