SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – A P300-million potable water project was inaugurated here on Thursday.
Joseph Chua, president of MacroAsia Properties Development Corp., which financed and constructed the project, said the treatment plant could produce 10 million liters of water per day to be delivered to households and business establishments in 22 barangays here.
“In the context of the five gallon water containers we are familiar with, this plant can produce about 528,344 of such containers,” Chua said.
The project was undertaken under a memorandum of agreement signed by the local government and MacroAsia in 2013.
Under the MOA, MacroAsia will operate the water treatment plant for 25 years. The contract is renewable for another 25 years, depending on the outcome of the negotiations with the local government.
The treatment plant will get its supply of water from Magat River.
“It has been our vision to have our own stable supply of safe drinking water… It’s a dream come true in our town,” said Solano Mayor Philip Dacayo.
The National Water Regulatory Board will determine the monthly water fees to be collected from consumers.
