Quakes hit Catanduanes

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Earthquakes of magnitudes-6.2 and 3.7 jolted Catanduanes shortly before midnight Monday and at dawn yesterday, but no damage or injury was reported.

The first quake occurred at around 11:13 p.m. some 91 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

It was felt at Intensity 5, 4 and 3 in Gigmoto, Virac and Panganiban towns, respectively.

The quake was also felt at Intensity 3 in Sorsogon City, Irosin and Prieto Diaz, all in Sorsogon, and in this city.

It was felt at Intensity 2 in Naga City, Masbate and Quezon City, Intensity 1 in Manila.

Meanwhile, the epicenter of the magnitude-3.7 quake was located 62 kilometers east of Virac town. – Cet Dematera, Francis Elevado
