MANILA, Philippines - Two gunmen riding a motorcycle shot and killed an elderly man who was on his way to bring his grandchild to school in Quezon City, on Monday morning.
Reynaldo Gile, 63, a battery technician, instantly died from several gunshots wounds.
Initial police reports said that Gile was on board an L-300 van (RJL-776) around 6:35 a.m. to bring his 13-year-old grandchild to school.
When the victim's van reached the corner of Quirino Highway and San Francisco Street in Barangay San Bartolome, two men onboard a motorcycle appeared and shot Gile at close range.
The two assailants, whom witnesses said wore ski masks and helmets, sped off after the shooting.
Gile's grandson was unhurt during the shooting.
Police are still investigating the motive of the killing.
