Tacloban wants 200 more cops for Pope visit

MANILA, Philippines - The Tacloban City police is now requesting an additional 200 more policemen to secure Pope Francis during his visit to Leyte province next year.

In a radio interview, Police Senior Superintendent Dominador Say Cabillan, Tacloban police director, said that they need to beef up security for the Pope's visit.

Cabillan said they will be deploying the police force to manage traffic, man checkpoints and secure the places which will be visited by the leader of the Catholic Church.

The police chief, however, stressed that they have yet to receive any threats on the security of the Pope.

The Tacloban City police is continuously coordinating with the regional headquarters regarding its request for the 197 more police personnel to complement its existing 314 uniformed personnel.
