TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A public elementary school teacher was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men as she was on her way to school in Echague town, Isabela Friday.
Twinkle Gario, 37, and her husband were on a motorcycle when she was shot at around 12:45 p.m. in Barangay Cabugao, said Chief Inspector Gerald Gamboa, town police chief.
Gario died while being rushed to the Echague District Hospital due to two gunshot wounds in the body.
Investigators recovered two bullet shells for a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
Gamboa said Gario’s husband told investigators that his wife’s debts could be the motive for the killing.
