Bounty for North Cotabato bombers raised to P200K

NORTH COTABATO (Nov.18) – The mayor of Kabacan on Monday offered another P100,000 bounty for any information that may lead to the arrest of the persons behind Sunday night’s bombing in the municipality that left a college student dead and 15 others injured.

The additional reward offered by Kabacan Mayor Herlo Guzman, chair of the municipal peace and order council, brings the total bounty against Sunday's bombing to  P200,000.

Half of the total reward money is from the office of North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza.

The bombing at a busy spot in Kabacan left Monique Mantawil dead and injured 15 others.

Mantawil, scion of a big Moro clan in Kabacan, was a second year development communication student in the state-run University of Southern Mindanao at the town proper of Kabacan.

She was laid to rest by relatives Tuesday in keeping with Islamic tradition of burying the dead within 24 hours after death.

Guzman and Mendoza had extended assistance to Mantawil’s family.

Col. Dickson Hermoso, spokesman of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said intelligence agents of the 602nd Brigade are now helping the police identity the bombers.
