LTFRB issues show cause order vs 2 school vehicle operators

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered the operators of the two school service vehicles involved in an accident Tuesday in Quezon City to explain why their franchises must not be revoked.

In a radio interview, LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez said the agency's regional director has issued show cause orders to both school service vehicle operators of Xavier School service and Malayan High School of Science.

The  service vehicles of the two schools collided at the intersection of Speaker Perez and N. Roxas Street in Barangay Lourdes, Quezon City Tuesday early morning, injuring eight persons including five students.

Ginez said that the Board also suspended the drivers of the two school service vehicles pending the result of the investigation into the accident.

The drivers, whose licenses have been confiscated, will undergo the mandatory drug test and road safety seminar at the LTFRB, he added.

Authorities will file reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property and multiple injuries against the two drivers.
