Ex-village chief charged for ‘hot meat’

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A former village chairman in this city was among 14 persons charged for allegedly violating a law against the illegal slaughter of animals.

Marianito Yelo of Barangay 35 and his companions Samuel Cordova, Ryan Parojillo, Lemuel Talaman, Norby Gonzales, Meljun Flores, Rosalie Destonado, Sammy Talaman, Nemia Flores, Alex Eriman, Michael Salgado, Henry Alagabat, Raymond Alargon and Ritchie Dabandan were arrested at past 1 a.m. last Saturday in Purok Maanyag II, Barangay Alijis, said Police Officer 3 Joshua Barile.

Police recovered 17 hog heads, 60 live pigs, 14 bladed weapons and packs of animal blood and organs from the suspects.
