MANILA, Philippines - A man took hostage on Wednesday morning one of the passengers of a public utility jeepney in San Mateo, Rizal.
Initial reports said the man grabbed a woman at knife point inside the vehicle bound for Rodriguez, Rizal when it reached Gen. Luna Street in Barangay Ampid and threatened to hurt her.
The hostage-taking incident triggered a traffic snarl in the area as authorities cordoned off the site.
Police are now talking to the man, in his late 40s, and trying to negotiate for the release of the woman.
