LAGUNA, Philippines – One of the alleged members of the Ozamis robbery group was captured in a raid in Calamba City last Friday, police reported yesterday.
Pepito Logo, 30, was arrested in his safehouse in Barangay Mayapa.
Superintendent Marvin Saro, Calamba City police chief, said Logo was among a group of men who allegedly robbed an LBC outlet in Bacoor City, Cavite last year.
The suspect was identified by the witnesses through footage taken by a closed-circuit television camera installed in the area.
Saro said the Ozamis robbery group hired Logo, who is known as “the driver,” for his skills in driving and his familiarity with Cavite and Laguna.
The robbery group was responsible for a series of attacks on banks and pawnshops in Metro Manila and in the nearby provinces.
Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Laguna police director, said the suspect went into hiding after the arrest of his companions. Some of the group’s members were killed in a shootout with authorities.
A P100,000 bail was recommended for the suspect’s temporary release.
