MANILA, Philippines — The fierce typhoon Glenda not only left thousands of trees toppled down, streets flooded and residences with leaks but also damaged several malls in Metro Manila and Luzon.

Besides ripping the facade of Glorietta 5 in Makati City and SM Aura in Taguig City, Glenda also peeled the panels off the exterior of SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

SM branches in Lipa City in Batangas and San Pablo City in Laguna were also affected.

The popular shopping malls remained opened to the public on Wednesday after Glenda battered the Bicol Region and Southern Luzon.

Residents flocked to malls in the afternoon for food and recreation as electricity was knocked out in several areas.
