Brewing cyclone spotted off Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) located east of Northern Mindanao.

In its weather forecast issued Wednesday morning, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 700 kilometers east of Northern Mindanao at 4 a.m.

The potential tropical cyclone is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone affecting Mindanao, the weather bureau added.

Meantime, Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters  will be moderate to rough.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Visayas and from the southwest to west over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas.
