ILOILO, Philippines – A village councilwoman was killed while her husband was wounded when an unidentified assailant reportedly shot them at their home in San Enrique town in Iloilo Sunday night.
Leonida Palma of Barangay Paga was shot in the head while a bullet grazed the neck of her husband, Randy, said Senior Police Officer 3 Randy Lambungan, officer-in-charge of the San Enrique police.
Randy said he was feeding their dogs when he heard a gunshot and lost consciousness. Bystanders said they heard two gunshots.
The couple’s nine-year-old son, who was asleep beside his mother when the incident occurred, said he was awakened by the gunshot and found his face splashed with what he thought was tomato juice.
Police said no slugs or bullet shells were recovered from the crime scene.
Lambungan said they placed Randy under investigation as his statements were inconsistent and had him undergo a paraffin test.
