Pa, son nabbed in Cagayan drug raid
MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents nabbed a 55-year-old carpenter and his son during a sting operation in Cagayan, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Wednesday.
PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspects as Donato Jurad, a carpenter; and his son, Jean Paul, 30.
The elder Donato was included in the illegal drug watchlist of Cagayan province. The two were considered owners and maintainers of a drug den, Cacdac said.
Agents of PDEA Regional Office 2 arrested the suspects in a buy-bust operation at their residence in Centro 2, Tuao, Cagayan, last Monday.
Seized from the suspects' possession were five plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a jar of rolled aluminum foils, nine lighters, an improvised lamp and burner, and other pieces of drug paraphernalia.
The confiscated items have been submitted to the PDEA RO 2 laboratory section for custody and tests while the suspects are presently detained at the PDEA RO 2 Detention Facility.
Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 6 (Maintenance of a Drug Den), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drug), Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being filed in court against the suspects.
