Court orders Napoles brought to Makati hospital

MANILA, Philippines - A Makati City court on Friday ordered businesswoman Janet Napoles transferred to the Ospital ng Makati (Osmak) for an emergency checkup on the cyst in her uterus.

Judge Elmo Alameda of the Makati City Regional Trial Court ruled that Napoles be brought to Osmak after a close-door deliberation with the businesswoman's lawyers and PNP physicians.

Napoles lawyers have a pending motion before the court for their client to be allowed to have surgery for her cyst in her uterus at the St. Luke's hospital at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Judge Alameda had suggested that Napoles could be taken to the South Luzon Hospital, the Philippine General Hospital, the East Avenue Hospital or Osmak.

Napoles, the alleged brains behind the P10 billion pork scam, has been complaining of stomachache reportedly due to the cyst.

She is detained on serious illegal detention charges filed against her by her relative, Benhur Luy, the whistleblower in the pork barrel scam.
