Woman stabs, burns 4 kids

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines -  – A woman reportedly stabbed dead her four children before setting them on fire to apparently cover the crime in Meycauyan, Bulacan on Sunday.

Marie Durlucio, 32, was arrested hours after she allegedly killed Karyl Franz, 9; Seth Benedict, 7; Zane, 3, and York Joshua, 1, said Senior Superintendent Joel Ordona, director of the provincial police.

Ordona said responding policemen found the bodies of the four children on the second floor of the house in Barangay Iba.

He said during interrogation, Durlucio reportedly owned up the crime.

The woman reportedly told probers that she stabbed her children and locked them in the room on the second floor before setting the house on fire.

Ordona said arson probers at first thought the children were merely victims of a fire. He said they were shocked when the woman admitted she killed and burned her children.

Durlucio reportedly said she killed her children because her husband neglected them. Investigators said they will recommend that the suspect undergo psychological tests. – With Dino Balabo
