ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - At least nine business stalls were razed when fire hit Monday night a commercial center, some 74 kilometers east of this city, the city fire bureau said here.
City Fire Marshal Superintendent Dominador Zabala Jr. said the fire broke out at the Vitali Proper, Barangay Vitali about 9:30 p.m Monday, engulfing at least nine business stalls owned by a certain Vicente Alavar.
Zabala said no one was reported hurt or injured during the incident as firefighters contained the conflagration, preventing it from spreading to adjacent business establishments.
He said investigation disclosed the fire originated in one of the stalls rented by a certain Vicente delos Reyes and quickly spread in the area.
Fire probers suspected electrical faulty wiring could have caused the fire. The amount of damage has yet to be estimated.
