KAPANGAN, Benguet – Almost half a million marijuana leaves and seeds ready to be transported for lowland markets, were found by policemen in sitio Lao-angan, Gadang, Kapangan town in Benguet the other day.
Policemen doing eradication operations in the area discovered the 15 kilos of marijuana leaves and a kilo of marijuana seeds worth P400,000 but its owner was nowhere to be found.
After documenting such, the illegal contraband were torched in the full view of barangay officials led by barangay chairman Mariano Bagtila, said Supt. Davvy Limmong, Cordillera police spokesperson.
With the continuous marijuana eradication in the whole of the region, Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez said they are stepping up their effort to track down drug suspects.
On February 28, a 25 -year old man was arrested in an anti- drug buy-bust operation along Viloria Street, Purok 2 Bulanao Norte, in Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Kalinga police director Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, named the drug dealer as Michael B. Macagne, native of Purok 1 Bulanao Tabuk City.
Seized from the suspect were one transparent plastic sachet containing residues of shabu; one small transparent heat-sealed plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance; one crumpled aluminum foil; and the P500 marked money used in the operation.
Macagne is now facing drug violation cases.
