MANILA, Philippines - A 75-year old woman was hurt in a fire that swept through a residential compound in Pasay City Wednesday.
Pasay City Fire Department Arson investigator SFO2 Mark Ryan Lanuzga identified the injured as Filomena Piedra who sustained minor burns.
Initial investigation showed that the fire started at about 11:03 a.m. at the corner of Protacio and Ilang-Ilang Streets near the boundary with Makati City.
The fire soon reached the third alarm as the blazed spread through the 50 houses mostly made of light materials.
Responding firefighters from Makati and Pasay cities managed to put out the fire by 2:13 p.m.
Initial investigation showed that the fire was started by a candle left unattended inside one of the burned houses.
According to the Pasay City Fire Department, the affected families were temporarily relocated to a nearby school.
