ITOGON, Benguet – A mild earthquake shook the mining district of Itogon town in Benguet and nearby Baguio City early Saturday morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology in Baguio recorded the quake at 3.3 magnitude which came at exactly 6:18 Saturday morning.
PHIVOLCS said the center of the quake was exactly 16.33 degrees north, 120.60 degrees east or 5 kilometers south and 56 degrees east of Itogon, Benguet.
The shaking was only 6 km below the epicenter and it was felt in Baguio at intensity 2.
No known damages were reported in Benguet and nearby Baguio City.
In July 16, 1990, an intensity 7.8 earthquake placed Baguio on its knees with over a thousand killed.
Baguio reportedly sits on crisscrossing fault lines.
