Live grenade found near preschool in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY, Philippines -  Bomb experts safely disposed off Wednesday a live fragmentation grenade found near a kindergarten school-building inside a public school campus here.

The explosive was first noticed by Misuari Kamid, a watcher of one of the pupils of the Cotabato City Central Elementary School at the city proper.

The grenade was found under a papaya tree near the entrance to the kindergarten school building, according to the local police.

Responding Army and police bomb experts found the safety lever and pin of the grenade still intact.

Classes in the buildings near the spot where the grenade was found resumed immediately after government ordnance operatives  removed the explosive from the scene.
