OPAPP turns over farming facilities, tools to Kabacan barangays

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines  --- Officials turned over to residents of Kabacan town the other day P5.3 million worth of agriculture facilities to help the farming communities there.

The projects, a rice mill facility, solar dryers, a warehouse and a water system in Kabacan’s neighboring Barangays Pedtad and Nangaan, were funded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, under its Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (Pamana) Program.

The newly-built post harvest facilities were turned over by representatives of OPAPP to barangay officials in the presence of North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Talino-Mendoza, Kabacan Mayor Herlo Guzman, and North Cotabato Third District Rep. Jose Tejada.

Guzman said he is thankful to OPPAP and the office of the provincial governor for the projects, designed to improve the productivity of Moro farmers in the two barangays.

Guzman, a neophyte mayor,   said the Pamana projects complement the peace and economic programs of Mendoza in Kabacan, home to mixed Moro, Ilocano, Cebuano, and Ilonggo peasant communities. - John Unson
